Two links courses

Royal Portrush offers two fine links courses and while the Dunluce Course will always be regarded as the championship links, the slightly shorter Valley Course also represents a serious test of links golf prowess. The Valley course lies between the East Strand and the Dunluce Course. It is the home of Royal Portrush Ladies Club and the affiliated Rathmore Club.

Simply put, the Dunluce course at Royal Portrush is one of the world’s finest links courses and the only course in Ireland to have hosted the British Open in 1951, an event won by Max Faulkner. Fred Daly, the only Irishman ever to win “The Open” was a Royal Portrush member.

Overlooked by the ruins of the 13th Century Dunluce Castle it is a masterpiece of golf architecture. Famous for its magnificent turf and excellent holes, many of which require long and accurate drives made all the more difficult by the high winds. Unimaginable rough and tricky greens, thrown with windy conditions make this course an admirable test for a seasoned golfer.

Many top golfers have portrayed Royal Portrush Golf Club as one of the most challenging golf courses in the world. It is a testing course, requiring skill and concentration, but set in one of the most scenic parts of Europe.
